Glasswells Slide the Mile for a Good Cause
Former champion racehorse trainer, Jenny Pitman, is calling on all
action men and women across Bury St Edmunds to experience the adrenaline
rush of a lifetime this Sunday 17th July, by zip sliding across The
Rowley Mile Racecourse, in aid of the UK’s
leading children’s cancer
charity, CLIC Sargent.
Glasswells World of Furniture is just one of the many local company teams that have been challenged to experience the adrenaline rush of a lifetime by zip sliding across the Rowley Mile racecourse and raise money for children with cancer.
Each member of the four-strong Glasswells team will attach themselves to the military style zip slide, launch themselves off the 100 foot high Millennium Grandstand and hurtle nearly 500 feet along the slide to land safely on the racecourse below - a daring feat for anyone!
Everyone is welcome to come along to the event where the entry is absolutely FREE. There will be fun for all and Q103fm will be providing music entertainment throughout the day. Teams of four as well as individuals are also invited to take the plunge and are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100 per person. The aim of the day is to have as much fun as possible whilst raising money for CLIC Sargent. Prizes will be awarded to those that raise the most.
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity, providing vital services and care for children with cancer and their families. Over the next 48 hours, 10 children and young people will be diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia.
Jenny Pitman, who herself knows only too well the trauma a cancer diagnosis can bring said “I would encourage all you thrill-seekers out there to sign up for this amazing event. Cancer affects the lives of so many people every day and CLIC Sargent needs your support to make a real difference to the lives of children throughout this region.”
Paul Glasswell, Managing Director at Glasswells World of Furniture in Bury St. Edmunds comments: “We like to support worthwhile charities whenever we can and CLIC Sargent has certainly come up with a great way of raising money. Good luck to the Glasswells team and the very best for a successful day.”
