100 Years Service at Glasswells

Loyal employees at Glasswells take a breather as they celebrate a combined 100 years of service at the company.

With jobs spanning the entire company, the 5 members of staff (Ruth Nunn not pictured) have clocked up a massive 100 years combined service for Glasswells, each having dedicated 20 years to the company.

To mark the occasion, Paul Glasswell has presented them each with a gorgeous gold watch, engraved with a personal message. Three of the personnel are based at the World of Furniture store along Newmarket Road in Bury St. Edmunds, but started 20 years ago at the old Glasswells store in St Andrews Street, they have lots of stories to tell having seen the store relocate and expand several times; high spirited stories such as rolling colleagues up in carpet and the good times they have had at various celebratory parties

Margaret Fletcher is a PA and assists with the payroll and personnel administration. Frank Zdrenka has been a furniture salesman for the duration, his wife also worked for the company for some 29 years and Alison Tooke manages curtain manufacturer and fabric stock. David Clover has progressed his career at the Bury based Storage & Distribution Centre to become a removals driver, undertaking house-to-house removals for customers throughout the region, whilst Ruth Nunn, based at the Haverhill store, has the important job of cleaning the store, keeping it looking tip top for all customers.

Paul Glasswell, Managing Director comments, “We are a lucky company as our staff retention rate is very high, even when staff move on to start other jobs, many of them return to work for us again soon after. It has always been important for us to look after our staff, we organise great company celebrations to mark special occasions and offer flexible working hours to fit around staff’s other commitments. Our staff care and commitment is certainly reflected in the high quality of service they pass onto our customers, enhancing our reputation for providing a friendly, personal and honest service with a smile!”
